OpenActive for social impact
Creating open data on sport and activity opportunities aims to drive a range of benefits:
- A higher volume and variety of openly accessible information on sport and activity opportunities
- Creation of higher quality data, which better suits the needs of users
- Lower costs to create tools and services that meet specific needs
- Interoperability between services – reducing work duplication to share information
OpenActive has so far been successful in opening data for the leisure industry, with major providers like GLL, Better, and Everyone Active (who, based on a study with one data aggregator, increased their customer base by 11,500 through use of OpenActive).
