Understanding the role of the OpenActive Sustainability Working Group and its membership
About the group
OpenActive is a community-led initiative, stewarded by the Open Data Institute (ODI) and ukactive, and funded through Sport England. This means that while the ODI, ukactive and Sport England hold governance for the initiative until the end of June 2021, the community – that is, the sports and physical activity sector – shapes the direction of the initiative.
The Sustainability Working Group represents part of this community input, and focuses on guiding the work needed to ensure OpenActive’s sustainability beyond this date. They will provide recommendations for the future model, governance and direction of OpenActive to the Steering Group.
The Steering Group is made up of representatives from the ODI, Sport England and ukactive, who will make the ultimate decisions, in line with the governance of the OpenActive initiative in its current form.
